The V.A.L.O.R. approach to improvement.
The 5 tried and tested steps to sustainable improvement for any aspect of your life or work.
"I have personally valued Robert's training - particularly the DISC aspect of this.”
Julie Salt, Apprenticeship Lead, Community Learning Services
The 5 steps
I will teach you the 5 steps to sustainable change and improvement in any setting because too many people start out on their improvement journey but don't know how to sustain it. You will work through:
- value elicitation,
- prioritising areas in your life or work,
- learning about beliefs and limiting beliefs,
- connecting with a healthy outlook for a growth mindset,
- and reframing,
because these are my tried and tested mechanism for sustainable change.
The benefits
You will find your purpose and achieve your goals.
You will move from being stuck to unstuck.
You will grow in confidence and impact.
You will unlock your potential and improve your performance.
And you will become supercharged and full of ideas for growth.
The bonus
As a bonus you will learn how to better understand yourself and other people, based on the four key personality traits identified through DISC (personality profiling) because this will improve your motivation, communication and relationships to support you to sustain your improvement.
My passion is helping people get to know themselves better by initially raising their self-awareness because this improves motivation and strengthens communication. When people are motivated and communicating effectively they get greater results.
DISCover the Power of You
My own interests and experiences in self-improvement, combined with my extensive educational and leadership background resulted in my book DISCover the Power of You which laid the foundations for this and related courses.
What my previous clients have said
As an experienced trainer and leader in the education sector the approaches in this course are tried and tested. My most recent corporate clients have been North East Lincolnshire Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council. DISC personality profiling and training was used to enhance the leadership team, customer support teams, teachers and students alike.
Testimonial for training:
"Staff have confirmed that the training sessions Robert delivered have been highly valued and I have seen the impact of these through quality of delivery. We have never had any training of this kind before. Robert’s input over the last few months has had a big and positive impact on how we work.” Julie Salt, Apprenticeship Lead, Community Learning Services
Testimonial on consultancy:
"Robert makes you question what you thought you knew and drives you to think new thoughts to take new approaches. While at the same time keeping a practical eye on progress monitoring and reporting, observation and performance management. A great combination for driving cultural change. The impact of this is an organisation with improved outcomes that is serving the needs of our learners and community." Karen Linton, Head of Service, North East Lincolnshire Council
Endorsement for DISCover the Power of You;
“I find I am using bits of new thinking or understanding quite often and very naturally now. Before I would make myself consider - what would Robert say? or what would DISC tell me? Now I find myself talking naturally about something and only afterwards thinking 'oh my I sound like Robert!!'” Jayne Wilcock, Curriculum and Data Manager, East Riding of Yorkshire Council

Your Instructor
I am founder and CEO of Creative Coaching Creative Cultures; Author of DISCover the Power of You (due to be published by John Hunt Publishing in 2017); Speaker; Consultant, Coach and Licensed DISC Trainer.
I have written these range of courses because I see a real need through my work in training, coaching and consultancy for an extension of the learning that I have developed through my book above.
There is a great saying 'If it's important you'll find the time. If not you'll find an excuse, and believe it.'
These courses are for those who want to find the time, not the excuses.
Frequently Asked Questions
I have written this course for anyone looking to raise their own self-awareness and performance, and so confidence and understanding, in order to cultivate positive changes first in themselves and then to the cultures they find themselves or place themselves in. More specifically I have developed this course for;
- People who have lost their confidence or lost their way.
- People who have become stuck in thinking or behavioural pattern that no longer suit, or a role, a career, a life they no longer resonate with.
- People who have lost touch with their core self, core values and so their core purpose.
- And for people who have a desire to better understand their own personality and the personality of others to improve communication and reduce conflict.
During my time as a tutor, lecturer, manager, leader and consultant I have witnessed time and time again the impact individuals have had on the prevailing culture, and the impact cultures and changing cultures has had on individuals and teams; the positive and adverse effects on communication, conflict, performance, success and individual wellbeing.
I am convinced culture and success do not happen by accident. Cultural drift however does happen through inattentiveness.
The culture you cultivate or neglect will either help or hinder your success.
I passionately believe it is my responsibility and your responsibility to transform ourselves, to transform the world we live in for the better. This is sorely needed as we shift into a new phase of ‘being’. Bookshelves are awash with literature of an imminent transformation of Homo Sapiens; how we live, how we think, how we do business, and how we organize ourselves.
My belief is that if we want to survive and indeed thrive in our new world, whatever that looks like, we will need high levels of self-awareness and cultural literacy, that is, individual personality and networked personalities. To use the oft quoted Mahatma Ghandi, “you need to be the change you wish to see in the world” and as the great Gestaltist Fredrick Perls noted “change occurs when one becomes what he is, not when he tries to become what he is not.”
The purpose of this course then is to transform people,
to transform the world we live in.
