Coaching has become something of a 'buzz' word in many professions, such as education, voluntary and community sectors, and in the corporate world (not to forget the world of self-transformation and life-coaching itself).

Indeed, the CIPD has shown that coaching is ranked in the top three most effective learning and development practices by those businesses surveyed. Coaching can be a one-on-one intensive activity. Or a team activity. Either way it has a great potential to improve motivation, aspiration, goals and achievements.

Coaching

While there is a recognised skills set for coaching; coaching, like all creative activities, is more than simply a set of skills. Coaching is a mindset; a growth mindset. Whether that be for your learning and development, to expand your business opportunities, or to support any activities in your life or business that has become ‘stuck’ or is underperforming.


Aim of the course

The key aim of this course is to support managers and team leaders develop their skills, their mindset and a coaching culture. We will do this by:

  • defining coaching – what is it? and what is it not?
  • identify and make use of the core coaching skills and coaching mindset,
  • articulate and use the GROW model in coaching situations,
  • review beliefs and limiting beliefs and understand the impact these have on behaviour,
  • examining and using reframing technique to support change and improvement,
  • undertaking self-reflection and action planning for your own and your teams improvement.

In order for this course to be effective it will be important that you put your learning into practice in real coaching situations, whether these are 1-1, team, formal or informal.

Additionally we will look at 'personality' and how this drives our behaviour and can impact on your own performance or the performance of your team.

Again, you will need to put this knowledge into practice for it to be meaningful.
